Bernard Mokam-Mojuye - Former UN Director Skilled in Capacity Building

Bernard Mokam-Mojuye worked with the United Nations for over 30 years, starting as an intern at the International Monerary Fund (IMF), a programme Officer and technical advisor at UNDP and gradually progressing to become a senior manager at the national and regional levels. A native Cameroonian currently residing in Atlanta, Georgia, Bernard Mokam-Mojuye served at different times as regional coordinator for the Sahel at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Regional Liaison Office in Dakar, Senegal, senior program manager of UNDP in Somalia, and country director of the UNDP in Sierra Leone.

A highly organized professional and strategic thinker, Bernard Mokam-Mojuye played vital roles in conceptualizing sustainable development initiatives in African countries, including Rwanda, Chad, Burkina Faso, Mauritania, Madagascar, and Niger. He led negotiations with governments, donors, and stakeholders to raise over $100 million to meet the development needs of countries and built effective partnerships with development-oriented organizations to implement programs.

Mr. Mokam-Mojuye also has first-hand experience in capacity building, promoting good governance, and preventing crises. He led several governance formulation missions in Rwanda, Ghana, Chad, and Madagascar, coordinated efforts to successfully deliver three elections in Sierra Leone, and prepared strategy papers and concept notes to guide the UNDP in supporting security and resilience in the Sahel. He also promoted several programs in Burundi and Somalia in the areas of poverty reduction, HIV/AIDS prevention, conflict prevention, trade facilitation, and ICT adoption.

Mr. Mokam-Mojuye holds a PhD in applied economics from Istitut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris. He was previously an executive board member of the Africa Capacity Building Foundation.
